Mini Cooper S / JCW F66 Upgrades
Posts by : Dan McKenzie | 06/03/2025
With the release of the new Mini Cooper F66 S & JCW models back at the end of 2024 it wasn’t going to be long before the upgrade bug was going to be hitting new owners! We’ve brought together some of the best Mini Cooper f66 upgrades all into one place!
Our biggest success last year was undoubtedly how well our own Mini JCW F56 track car did in terms of on track and also showcasing what is possible with this model and also what we can offer in terms of performance here at Carbonwurks. With there currently not being much on the market we decided to hit the ground running and pull the best upgrades around from the best companies and show-case what is possible currently in terms of performance and aesthetics for these vehicles. As time goes on we’ll also keep this post updated with any new and exciting offerings as well as keeping our specific Mini F66 Collection of products on our website. You’ll find this link down at the bottom of the page.
The best way to show what’s on offer for these vehicles is by separating them out into various sections depending on what you’re looking to achieve. After each “possible” upgrade we’ll drop links directly to the products on our website for you to check-out individually.
Exhaust Systems
REMUS Exhausts
The guys at REMUS have always been at the fore-front when it comes to getting an incredible sounding system to market for new breeds of vehicle. REMUS have launched both a “Sport” and “Racing” option for the Cooper S F66 depending on the level of sound wanted by the owner. One of the cool things (Well what we think is cool) is that they have styled their system to look like the new JCW exhaust system, this is a single pipe exit to the rear of the vehicle which pays homage to the old Austin Mini. The Cooper S as standard from factory features no visible tailpipes and as such the rear diffuser does not have the required opening. As part of the installation of the REMUS system (and any exhaust system for the Cooper S) will require a new rear diffuser from BMW, which we include as standard with any system.
If you want to hear what this system sounds like and our thoughts about the system then check out the video below:
We recently had a customer with a Mini Cooper F66 JCW that wanted this REMUS system and with no other players in the market that had a decent sounding system we got to work! We took the great system for the Cooper S that REMUS had made and managed to install it and work in conjunction with the JCW platform. As the REMUS system is a “Non-Valved” exhaust we had to remove the JCW valve element and hide-away the wiring and it worked incredibly well with a very happy customer and great sounding car!
You can hear this system in action on the YouTube video below:
AC Schnitzer
This one is certainly one of our firm favourites especially as it’s what we’re currently running on the Carbonwurks JCW development car. One of the biggest hates for the JCW was the lack of twin tailpipes on this particular model (None on the Cooper S) which the ACS system deals with. There are two systems available depending if you have the Cooper S or the JCW which depicts the valving requirement. The result is a very respectful / modest sound upgrade as well as performance benefits and giving you the all important twin system back.

Air Intakes & Filters
K&N Filters
One of the biggest players in the market when it comes to air filtration they were one of the first to come up with a solution for the Mini Cooper S / JCW F66. This is what we would consider an entry level upgrade to help improve the filtration from your vehicle. It’s a re-usable system which will directly replace your current filter which you can do yourself. Once installed it will allow a high-er air-flow to the engine and is designed to (minimally) boost your horsepower as well as acceleration.

RamAir
One of the most popular air intake kits for the Mini Cooper S / JCW F56 was the ProRAM Intake kit by RAMAir. They have taken what was learnt from the previous generation and applied it to the new F66 with the 2.0li B48 engine. It features a high flow pleated performance air filter (fully washable) that helps improve airflow whilst giving you that incredible intake “whooshing” noise. For the newer model it comes with an optional carbon fibre lid that serves not only as an extra heat barrier but also to help improve the look within your engine bay!

You can see and hear what this RamAir system is like on the video below:
Armaspeed
When it comes to air intakes, Armaspeed is certainly one of our favourite go-to products for both our project / development cars and also for customers. Every car we have owned where possible has had one of their systems installed. The Armaspeed cold air intake for the Mini Cooper F66 not only improves on performance and air flow for the vehicle but it looks good to thanks to a full carbon fibre top cover which instantly sets out the engine bay. They utilise only Non-Woven cone air filters which can be self serviced.
Put simply they greatly improve the performance of vehicle, allow more air to the engine and look great!
You can see and hear what this Armaspeed system is like on the video below:
Forge Motorsports
The next contender into the world of performance (Which we’ve been very excited about and looking forward to) is the latest offerings from Forge Motorsports. They already had a few parts that came over from the previous F56 generation (Rear Tie-Bars) but they have now released their new E-DV (Atmospheric Electronic Dump / Diverter Valve), their carbon fibre intake system and a replacement intake / inlet pipe which they very kindly sent through to us to test on our development JCW.
The E-DV is a bit of a game changer in the industry and has won some very prestigious accolades and awards for the technology it uses. The dump valve itself whilst offering a very satisfying “whoosh” also actually helps improve the throttle response as well as improved boost control. It’s also offering a much higher reliability (Great if you’re taking these cars on track).

Next up from Forge Motorsport is a carbon fibre intake system along with their inlet replacement pipe. The intake itself features a pre-preg carbon fibre top-lid that directly bolts on to the factory air box which means you get an OEM level of fitment whilst still benefiting from the cold air feed being directed into it. It features a ProRAM high flow pleated performance air filter. The result is an incredible intake sound when under load that you certainly will enjoy! The carbon top panel looks great in the engine bay with a side section to allow more of the noise to exit the system for your enjoyment and because it’s a sealed air box you know you’re getting some nice cold air flowing through it. They provide a silicon couple that means if you don’t fancy their silicon intake pipe you can bolt straight on to the factory one.
The inlet pipe is what this car has been missing (Even with all the intakes we’ve tried out previously). The stock intake pipe is full of plastic a resonator and some very unhelpful twists and turns that will be soaking up not only sound but more importantly air as it’s trying to get through to the engine. The Forge Motorsport offering is a much larger diameter pipe that fully fills the area up to allow as much as possible through. They’ve built on the success of their hard pipe for the F56 generation and moved into it being a silicon offering. Mainly because of the extra connections required with the couplers but also to help prevent heatsock from the VERY hot exhaust and downpipe that sits just below it.
The result of the intake and the inlet pipe is very impressive and with the e-DV thrown in, it really does sign off the soundtrack for the front of the car that the JCW was crying out for!

Eventuri
The big hitter in the intake world has finally released their long awaited system for the Mini Cooper F6X platform. The new Eventuri intake for the Mini F65/F66/F67 Cooper S and JCW is a fully sealed, high-volume carbon-fibre induction system engineered to deliver colder, denser airflow and smoother breathing across the rev range. Using Eventuri’s patented Venturi housing, it creates a direct, efficient flow path from the front duct to the turbo inlet, eliminating the turbulence and heat-soak issues found in the factory airbox and many aftermarket designs. The result is sharper throttle response, improved performance potential — especially on tuned vehicles — and a premium carbon finish that elevates the engine bay.

Braking
Brake Kits
There’s only one serious contender when it comes to braking on cars and that’s EBC. We were very fortunate to be able to offer our car up to them over the course of a few days (Spread across three months) to help them develop two kits for this platform. The first was the standard discs and pads upgrade utilising the existing calipers to give you that performance braking feel when pushing on hard. The second was their bigger “Apollo” Big Brake Kit (Also known as “Balanced Brake Kit”). For those wanting more from their braking especially as these cars start developing more power and wanting to push them on track this was a no brainer.
Apollo Big Brake Kit
As mentioned above, this is for the more power hungry / track-goer / fast road Mini Cooper Owner. It’s also for those that were somewhat disappointed with Mini’s decision to downgrade from a 4-Pot Caliper to a Single Pot (Like the Cooper S). This isa full 6-Pot replacement caliper, two piece floating disc as well as the YellowStuff brake pads with upgraded braided lines and fluid.

Take a watch about how this kit came about and our journey up to EBC:
EBC “Performance” Brake Kit Upgrade
If you’re wanting an improvement on your braking without going the whole hog of having to change to a bigger caliper and just want some extra bite then the Front & Rear upgrade kit comes with everything you need to do the job properly. It’s a full kit and includes their Turbo Grooved Sport Discs with YellowStuff Pads for both ends of the car. We’ve then complimented it with HEL Performance braided brake lines and Motul Brake Fluid.

Brake Lines
HEL Performance
This is a product we actually helped create with HEL Performance directly. As we were looking for the possible upgrades available for the F6X platform we realised there was nothing to offer whatsoever in terms of breaking and more importantly, lines with upgraded fluid. Our firm favourites within this industry is HEL Performance. We have run their products in pretty much all of our development / project vehicles and are the go-to choice for all our customers vehicles. With the F66 Cooper S / JCW being so new it wasn’t a system that HEL had looked into as of yet but we wanted to be the first. Working with our BMW parts department we sourced the correct replacement lines from Germany (None in UK Stock as of yet) and had them shipped to HEL.
They did their work and created their usual fantastic quality for a full front and rear package for the Cooper S & JCW that we’re now pleased to be able to offer (and know) that we were the ones that pioneered this system!
If you’re looking for a higher performance from your brakes, especially for the faster road / track users then replacement lines and replacement brake fluid (We recommend either MOTUL RBF 660 or RBF 700). Both of these will ensure that you retain high performance when at high speed and high heat to ensure that you get the most from your brakes and not on the receiving end of brake fade.

Suspension Upgrades
JCW Pro Suspension
Like previous years, MINI / BMW have developed their own “JCW PRO” coilover kit that was engineered in partnership with KW Automotive. This system will offer a more controlled setup and will offer be control, ride comfort and compliance over poor road services. The great thing is that having this system installed will not impact on your factory warranty. Depending on your vehicle you can expect a lowering range of approximately 20-30mm.

KW Suspension
Utilising the same setup from the Mini F56 Cooper S and JCW there is the Street Performance range in terms of the V1 / V2 / V3 Inox Coilovers. These systems allow you to perfectly setup the vehicle ready for fast road and track setup as well getting the ride-height just right for your vehicle.

Eibach Suspension
If you’re not looking for a full coilover setup then this offering from Eibach will massively improve the look and stance of your Mini Cooper whilst helping out with the handling.
Cooling
Forge Motorsports
As you start increasing the performance and power on your vehicle (especially if you’re taking your F66 on track) then it’s important to start looking into the cooling of the car and allowing it to breathe as best as possible. Having worked very closely with Forge (Having borrowed our development vehicle) they have created their new offering for this platform.
The Forge unit increases cooling efficiency through a significantly larger high-efficiency core and optimised end tank design, allowing lower intake air temperatures and more stable power delivery. The result is improved charge air cooling, greater thermal stability and more consistent performance — particularly during repeated acceleration or enthusiastic driving.

Interior Upgrades
Steering Wheels & Shifters
Carbonwurks Custom Steering Wheel
For a while now we’ve been designing and creating custom carbon fibre steering wheels and every development vehicle we’ve owned has had one and we had to treat the F66 JCW to one!
This steering wheel uses a Genuine steering wheel core and buttons that we have then customised with a matte carbon fibre elements, alcantara grips with red stitch and magnetic paddle shifters. As it’s likely we may end up taking this vehicle on track we added our OBD LED Race Pack which offers extra vehicle data and shifter lights when needed! The best thing of all, we were able to retain the factory heated steering wheel elements (In the grips only).
Check out our review video here:
Carbonwurks Magnetic Paddle Shifters
This one is for the F66 owners with those already with the factory paddle shifters (Aka this one won’t give you paddles if you don’t already have them). If you didn’t want to go the whole hog of the steering wheel upgrade but wanted more of a connected feel when driving and shifting then this is for you! The paddles themselves are not to dissimilar to the ones on our full wheel. They are the longer carbon fibre paddles with the resounding click when engage. They look great and do the job very well!

Cosmetic & Aesthetic Upgrades
Carbon Fibre
Engine Cover
Following on from the success of our F56 JCW LCI2 carbon fibre program we decided to get the ball rolling again for the F66. Firstly we have replicated the Mini Engine Cover in full pre-preg carbon fibre to improve the aesthetics of this area. We mainly did this to complement the installation of the Armaspeed Intake but even on it’s own it brings supercar level looks to the Mini Cooper!

Wheel Spacers
TPC Wheel Spacers
One of our most popular upgrades for the Mini Cooper, especially when doing suspension upgrades. These specialist wheel spacers from TPC allow you to improve the look and stance of your vehicle whilst not breaking the bank. Available in both 13mm and 16mm to help give your vehicle a wider look and more presence!
Downstar Engine Bay Kit
We’ve been working with the guys from Downstar Inc in the USA for nearly 4 years and we love a good collab. We designed and worked on the specifics of this kit from scratch. The full kit covers the majority of the fixings within the engine bay in a range of different colours and the result is a cleaner, more custom look under the bonnet that elevates the car’s aesthetic without altering performance.
Mini Cooper F66 AC Schnitzer Collection
The offering from AC Schnitzer was one of the first available to the industry for the Mini Cooper F66. It includes a whole host of options from performance, to handling to styling which is why we thought it deserved it’s own section whilst listing what is available for the vehicle. Like all parts from ACS they are all TUV approved so they are a fit and forget whilst dramatically improving the look, the handling and the performance of the vehicle. You also benefit from the BMW approved warranty that is offered when the parts are installed on to the vehicle.
We know that due to how iconic and deep in heritage the brand is when it comes to the BMW & Mini platform we have created two listings. One is for the full AC Schnitzer Kit and the other is for individual kits. For the AC Schnitzer enthusiast the full kit which if you opt for everything includes a discounted price compared to individually spec’ing the parts.
We could fill pages and pages of how much we love the AC Schnitzer brand but we’ll let the links and pictures below do the talking!

Security Upgrades
Dash Cameras
MINI
As people upgrade and modify their vehicles the security aspect is somewhat over-looked but it’s a 100% required element as you progress your journey. As you increase the value and the desirability of your vehicle you want to make sure that it’s protected and this is where a dash camera comes in. Whilst there are lots of aftermarket brands out there such as Blackvue, Thinkware and countless others we thought it was best to keep it on brand as much as possible. This system from Mini features a front and rear camera that will record all of your journeys and certain events whilst parked up when at home or out and about.
