Developed in collaboration with Carbonwurks, this EBC Apollo Balanced Big Brake Kit represents one of the very first high-performance braking solutions available for the latest Mini Cooper F66 JCW platform.

Working directly with EBC Brakes, we supplied our own development vehicle to help engineer and validate this kit—ensuring exceptional stopping performance, correct brake balance, and reliability under real-world and high-performance conditions.

At the core of the system are EBC’s 6-piston Apollo calipers, combined with large 335mm fully floating 2-piece discs. This setup delivers a huge increase in stopping power, dramatically improved heat dissipation, and consistent braking performance even under repeated heavy use.

This isn’t just about sharper road driving—this kit is engineered with track-focused performance in mind, where braking consistency and fade resistance are critical. Whether you’re pushing hard on fast road or taking your F66 JCW onto circuit, this system provides the confidence to brake later, harder, and more consistently.

Apollo 6-Piston Calipers

The EBC Apollo calipers are designed to deliver exceptional clamping force and even pressure distribution across the brake pad surface. The multi-piston design improves braking efficiency while maintaining excellent pedal feel and modulation.

Compared to the factory setup, the increased piston surface area allows for more consistent braking performance under load, particularly during repeated high-speed stops where heat and pressure can overwhelm standard systems.

2-Piece Fully Floating Discs (335mm)

The included 335mm fully floating discs are engineered for high-performance and track-focused use. The 2-piece construction separates the rotor ring from the bell, allowing for thermal expansion without distortion.

This design significantly reduces the risk of brake judder under extreme conditions while improving heat management and extending component lifespan. The grooved disc pattern also helps maintain pad performance by clearing gases and debris from the contact surface.

Optional Upgrades

• Rear Brake Upgrade – This will include our replacement EBC rear performance discs with the same matched groove pattern along with YellowStuff Rear Pads.
• Rear Brake Lines – Replacement rear braided brake lines only to go in conjunction with the fronts. EBC don’t currently offer these so they will be custom made HEL Performance Rear Brake Lines (In Silver).

Installation

Professional installation is recommended to ensure correct fitment and optimal performance. As part of the installation process, a full brake fluid flush is strongly advised—particularly if upgrading to a high-performance fluid such as EBC BF307+ Super DOT 4 Brake Fluid. Once installed, it is essential that the correct bedding-in procedure is followed to achieve maximum braking performance, pad longevity, and consistent operation under load. We’re able to offer installation here at our workshop in Poole, Dorset which will take a full day for the complete setup.

• This kit will not fit standard OEM Mini wheels due to caliper clearance
• Wheel spacers are typically required depending on wheel design
• Our development vehicle required 13mm front spacers with 19” wheels
• We do not recommend excessive spacer use without proper setup consideration
• A brake clearance template is available via EBC Brakes to check compatibility with your wheels
• Custom wheel solutions may be available in the future in collaboration with 2Forge Wheels (TBC)
