The Audi R8 GT was limited to 500 vehicles worldwide and the performance parts themselves are incredibly difficult to get hold of. We have based our GT carbon fibre swan neck rear wing on the OEM original but at a more cost effective price without compromising quality or fitment.

We have developed our parts in the same 2×2 Twill carbon weave that Audi use in the standard direction but for those looking for an even more premium option in a Herringbone “V-Style” seen in the likes of other supercar & hypercar models. The Herringbone parts are showcased on our development vehicle.

The wing from this kit is hand crafted and produced with 2×2 twill, autoclave carbon giving high accuracy along with a superb uniform finish. Parts will be gloss lacquered but can be matte lacquered on special request. The uprights are a machined aluminium that are then sprayed gloss black to provide a contrasting finish against the wing itself. Unlike other alternatives on the market, these uprights secure into the chassis of the vehicle just as per factory rather than just simply screwed or taped on to the rear of the vehicle. It is absolutely imperative to us here at Carbonwurks to produce such a large wing that has been fully tested and made to cope with the immense speeds that the R8 can achieve.

We designed and prototyped this part of the GT kit to be as close to factory as possible. By utilising the rear chassis points this ensures that the downforce that the part will be subject to ensure it performs as intended at high speed or on track. Other “cheaper” options on the market will likely just screw into the rear boot-lid section which we do not advise!

It has taken a year and a half and several iterations of this wing to get to this point where we are happy with the end result, we would never offer a part we are not completely confident with and has not gone through a rigorous testing procedure.

Carbon Fibre GT Wing Installed on a 2020 Audi R8

Specifications

• Autoclave, Pre-Preg carbon fibre
• 3K 2×2 Twill – Herringbone weave or straight weave
• High gloss UV resistant lacquer/clearcoat
• Coated with RaceGlaze 55 high carnauba wax

For those who don’t know much about Pre-preg Autoclave carbon, this is the strongest, lightest and highest quality carbon fibre available. The splitter is baked under immense pressure to give a very uniform and pin-hole free finish. With this being cured at high temps, it ensures longevity of the overall product. The rear wing is then finished in a UV, high gloss lacquer before being hand and machined polished and being treated to a high content carnauba wax from our partners Race Glaze.

Installation

There are two scenarios for installation of this wing to your vehicle. It depends on your current setup and if you currently have a fixed rear wing installed or the automatic rear lip that deploys over a certain speed. We’ve outlined the different procedures below:

• Deployable rear lip – If you have this setup then you will be required to install the Genuine Audi rear wing kit. This is an optional extra available to purchase from us (For supply only or installation by us). This allows you to install our carbon fibre wing as per factory that then is secured to the chassis as per factory. The mounting kit utilises all Genuine Audi parts and the main body panel will be colour coded to your vehicle (Please ensure you provide us with your VIN Number and colour code when ordering)
• Fixed Rear Wing – If you currently have the rear wing installed then it’s a case of removing your existing setup and installing the GT version in it’s place.

Due to the Premium nature of these parts we highly recommend that this kit is installed by a professional bodyshop with experience with the Audi R8 Facelift platform. If you are based in the UK then we highly recommend that your vehicle is brought down to us for installation which takes approximately 3 hours for this particular part.
