Over the years we’ve worked on a huge number of BMW i3 and i3S models, and one issue we see time and again is worn top mounts. These are the upper supports for your suspension struts and shocks, and when they begin to deteriorate the effects can be felt behind the wheel. It’s worth noting that this isn’t an “instant” problem but will happen over a set period of time. A tired set of mounts often leads to clunky noises, vague steering response, and uneven ride quality — all of which take away from the sharp, confident feel your i3 had when it left the factory.

This is why we strongly recommend replacing them, especially when upgrading your suspension. Fitting new mounts at the same time as a fresh set of shocks, springs, or coilovers ensures your suspension system works as one complete package — delivering the handling precision and ride comfort your i3 deserves.

• For cars over 30,000 miles, replacing the front top mounts is highly advisable.
• For cars over 60,000 miles, we recommend replacing both front and rear mounts for complete peace of mind.

Our kits are supplied as either front only or a complete front and rear set, with all genuine BMW fixings included. Please see the pictures for more info on the specific parts. As part of any suspension installation at Carbonwurks, we can also fit these mounts with no extra labour cost — giving you maximum benefit without any additional hassle.

As we’re able to ship these around the world it’s important to note we will require your Chassis Number or VIN so we can confirm the correct parts for your specific vehicle.

Installation

We’re able to offer installation of this system to your vehicle at our workshop here in Poole, Dorset.

Typically installation for a system like this should take approximately 1 hour per corner of the vehicle. As part of the installation a 4-wheel alignment must be carried out once the suspension has been completed.
