BMW i3 i3S Evolve / Bilstein Shock Absorber & Spring Kit

Upgrade Your BMW i3 & i3S With The Evolve Shock Absorber Kit & AC Schnitzer, AST or Evolve / Eibach Springs. Drops Your Vehicle Whilst Maintaining Ride Comfort.

These dampers were developed in conjunction with Bilstein specifically for the BMW i3 & i3S models on a specific valving to provide more control whilst improving the handling of the vehicle.

These dampers / shock absorbers can be used in conjunction with current OEM springs but for a further increase in comfort and handling it’s recommended to install them with an upgraded spring such as the Evolve / Eibach or the AST option. As well as improving how the vehicle handles you’ll also improve the car aesthetically in terms of it’s ride height.

Ride Height Specification

If you decide to replace the OEM springs with either the Ac Schnitzer, Evolve / Eibach or AST Springs then below are the approximate drop measurements:

• Evolve / Eibach- Between 10mm – 20mm depending on vehicle
• AST Suspension – Between 15mm – 25mm depending on vehicle
• AC Schnitzer – Approximately 20mm depending on vehicle

Top Mount Replacement

Having worked on a huge amount of BMW i3 and i3S over the last few years we have noticed that the top mounts (Top part of the coilover) are starting to wear through which can affect how the vehicle drives and performs. At the same time as doing your suspension upgrade we can supply and fit replacement top mounts (Front Only or Front & Rear) with no additional labour cost if we’re installing this upgrade for you. Typically if your i3 has done over 30,000 miles we would recommend replacing the fronts. If you have done over 60,000 miles we would recommend replacing both front and rear. These can be chosen as an options whilst placing your order. For more information on these top mounts, please see the linked products at the bottom of this listing.

The replacement top mounts will be the genuine BMW versions with all new fixings.

Replacement Shock Gaiters & Bump Stops

This is another optional item that we have started replacing whilst seeing some of the older vehicles (30,000+ miles / 4+ years) that have been in the workshop. Over time your gaiters that prevent dirt and muck entering into your dampers can perish. Likewise your bump stop that stops over-compression when going over big bumps can also deteriorate. This typically affects the front more than the rears from our experience. We would highly recommend that whilst doing the i3 suspension upgrade we also replace these at the same time to help protect your new investment with no additional labour cost. These are a high quality aftermarket brand rather than the Genuine BMW version.

Installation

We’re happy to offer this system for installation at our workshop here in Poole, Dorset.

Installation of this system takes approximately 4-5 hours. This works out to approx 1-1.5 hours per corner.

Once this setup has been installed you will require a vehicle alignment to be carried out. We have included the cost of our “Signature i3 / i3S Alignment” into the cost of this installation (At a reduced cost from normal)

Please Note:

• Ride Height measurements are approximate
• Possible drop measurement is based on a brand new vehicle from factory. The amount the car will lower by may vary depending on the age / mileage of your vehicle.
• If installing the dampers with OEM springs then you will not have any difference in ride height.
• We have experienced on some i3’s the bolts seizing within the front top mounts (Steel going into aluminium) at which point they need to be drilled and tapped out which normally takes another 1-2 hours. If this happens we will advise you whilst here and our hourly rate is £90+VAT (£108). It’s not super common but something we do come up against every few i3’s we work on due to their age.
