Carbonwurks Is TUV Approved!
Posts by : Dan McKenzie | 22/03/2024At Carbonwurks we strive to offer the best possible products and services. As part of our continual aim for improvement, we recently undertook a long and arduous process to obtain our TUV certification which we now offer for all BMW G series carbon parts we produce.
The process to obtain a TUV certification involved many steps. We supplied our products for testing purposes which then get checked to ensure they meet the criterion for pedestrian safety, fitment along with quality reassurances. Along with this testing process, we had to supply carbon fibre parts to check for strength and deformation with torsion testing. What this meant was taking a perfectly good carbon part and putting them through destruction testing to ensure safety standards.
Whilst we can’t show you the full ins and outs of the approval process we’ve dropped the “Good News” letter documentation which showcases some of our parts being tested at the bottom of the blog once we had confirmation!
So what does this mean for you, the customer? Well, if you are based in a European country that has strict laws when it comes to installing aftermarket parts, you will be required to show a TUV certificate when upgrading or changing any parts from manufacturer specification. Failure to supply a valid TUV certificate can cause your car to become illegal, imposing fines and even impounding the vehicle itself. It’s worth noting that a TUV isn’t required for all European countries and as such we will only supply to those in need as it requires specific paperwork and certificates to be supplied with specific vehicle details.
Obtaining official TUV approval is a big step for Carbonwurks however, we are no strangers to obtaining higher accreditation. Back in 2022 we also applied for our “Made in Britain” accreditation which we proudly showcase. Being one of very few who are certified proving our products are made here in the UK is just another string to our bow.
As part of expanding out our global reach, we have dedicated distribution in certain countries. We are happy to supply our products with a TUV directly to the end user, alternatively to obtain a TUV along with our products you can also purchase from A&M Autotech & Motorsport who will be able to supply and fit Carbonwurks products from their Swiss headquarters.
We look forward to further expanding and showcasing our capabilities in the carbon fibre and automotive world!
